The Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna, Dr Lateef Taiwo Sheikh, has urged doctors to respect the physicians’ oath.
He stated this during the 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Scientific Conference of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Kaduna State chapter. He lamented that doctors now do not use to show respect to their teachers while some neglected their work.
Physicians, according to the oath, are expected to consecrate their lives to the service of humanity, give to their teachers respect and gratitude, practice their profession with conscience and dignity, respect the secrets that are confided in them even after the patient has died as well as maintain utmost respect for human life, among others.
