The Bauchi State Commissioner for Health, Dr Zuwaira Ibrahim Hassan, has advocated for improved fund allocation for health intervention and financial management to block leakages.
The commissioner was speaking while presenting a paper on the implementation of Universal Health Coverage and Funding in Bauchi State to the participants of Senior Course Forty One of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS, Kuru Jos at Zaranda Hotel Bauchi.
Dr Zuwaira Ibrahim Hassan pointed out that all United Nation Member states have agreed to achieve Universal Health Coverage by twenty thirty as part of the Sustainable Development Goals
Speaking on the topic, Policy, Legal and Institutional Framework guiding funding of Universal Health coverage in the state Executive Secretary Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency Dr Mansur Dada said as at March this year 231 out of the 323 PHCs have been revitalized.
In a presentation entitled ”Challenges Militating Against Effective Universal Health Coverage Funding in the state Executive Secretary Bauchi State Health Trust Fund Dr Bako Abubakar Muhammad advocated employment of adequate skilled health workforce and their appropriate distribution between rural and urban communities.
The state Head of Civil Service Alhaji Adamu Umar Gokaru said the state government was committed to providing conducive environment for successful implementation of Universal Health Coverage in the state.
