Nursing graduates have pleaded with the Minister of Health Prof Isaac Adewole to intervene and ensure that intern nurse positions are advertised alongside other professions.  

 

Nursingworld Nigeria has learnt that a reason cited by majority of the teaching hosptials is that they are yet to receive the circular on nursing internship from the federal ministry of health

 

Nurse Samuel Fii who spoke with a Nursingworld Correspondent pleaded for full implementation of the internship program for graduate Nurses. He wrote: I wish to plead that the FMH should be reminded to send the relevant circulars to the Teaching Hospitals as soon as possible. If Nurses are not included in adverts for internship, it means the 2017 nursing graduates will waste one year at home because they can't be mobilized for NYSC without the completion of the internship program.

 

He also appreciated the efforts of UGONSA in ensuring the 100% implementation of the internship program for graduate Nurses.
