Efforts by the Chief Medical Director, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Professor Etete Peters towards making the Hospital a Medical Tourist Centre, intensified yesterday as experts from Exxon Mobil Producing Nigeria inspected available helipad for helicopter landing in the Hospital
It would be recalled that Exxon Mobil Producing Nigeria in 2012, in collaboration with the Hospital promised to build standard and functional trauma centre in the Hospital which will serve as the only trauma centre in the Southern Nigeria.

The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Isaac Udoh speaking on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, noted that the Hospital was ready to partner with them to achieve the course as mankind and generations stand to gain from the gesture.
He thanked them for the progress made so far, stating that despite the economic situation in the country, the love for humanity and to save lives still comes first for them. According to him, the need for a functional trauma centre cannot be over emphasized as there is no emergency service as of now in the state to cater for unforeseen casualties resulting from work, accidents or other forms.
Dr. Isaac assured them of maximum cooperation from management to make the dream a reality.
Mr. Andrew Ukwang, on behalf of the Management of Exxon Mobil Producing Nigeria, gave the assurance that the company would deliver a functional trauma centre fully equipped for capacity building, training and a referral centre in the country.
