This year, the Nigerian Optometric Association celebrates 50 years of existence in Nigeria. To mark this important milestone we have a 10months of events and initiatives planned that are aimed to pull together members from across the country and around the world to celebrate our growth and successes.

To date, we have announced our 50th Anniversary Achievement of Honour Awards recipients who were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the profession and their communities.  Congratulations go to: Professor Uche Ikonne, Professor D. D Sheni, Dr Ronald Eyime, Ambassador Dr Eniola Ajayi, and Dr Christabel Uduak Udom.

We have also created a Memories and Predictions page on our website and have launched a “Let’s build for Ogbuehi” “Stand Up For Ogbuehi” to support Professor Paul Olekanmma Ogbuehi Memorial clinic project.

50th Anniversary Week – June 27 – 30th, 2018 will be our big celebration. Accompanying an outstanding CE and workshop program, exhibitions, we will also host NOA Skit Night (get a team together and relive the fun!), formal Gala featuring who is who in ophthalmic industry and dance the night away with the Lost Faculties (who have reunited for the occasion). We will cap off the weekend with Thanksgiving Service at our Lady Queen of Nigeria Catholic Church Garki Abuja and Jumat service at the National Mosque, Abuja.
