FCT Natives Demand Review of School of Nursing Admission

Natives of the FCT, under the umbrella of Coalition of Abuja Indigenous Association have called on the authorities of the School of Nursing, Gwagwalada to review the admission list it released recently.

The natives made the demand when they held a peaceful protest, which was led by the assistant coordinator of the group, Comrade Dalhatu Ezekiel, to the school premises in Gwagwalada yesterday.

“We want the overall admission list into School of Nursing reviewed,” he said insisting that out of the 150 indigenes of the territory that applied for admission into the school, none was admitted.  “Even the five people the school claimed to have given admission are not natives and we hereby reject it,” he said.

They said the natives have no place to call their home but the FCT, adding that the school also failed to consider employing any of the natives as staff or cleaners.

“So we are saying that justice should be done to the natives of the FCT. Let it be that we have a quarter in your admission,” he added.

Responding, the principal of the school, Mr. Lazarus James Kwali, said the management was delighted over the peaceful manner the natives conducted themselves to show their grievances.

He said though he just assumed office, he was assuring them that the management will channel their grievances to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
