Presidency has offered automatic jobs to the 18 pioneer medical graduates of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), after enduring a 12 year medical programme.
The provost of the university’s college of health sciences, Professor Kareem Airede, announced the job offer at the inauguration of the graduates by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
He said the newly graduated doctors, according to him, will resume work on Monday as the pre-registry house officers at the University Teaching Hospital at Gwagwalada.
The provost commended them for enduring the prolonged medical programme.
The extension of the six year programme to 12 years follows the loss of accreditation and suspension of medical programme in the university due to the problems of infrastructure, manpower and equipment in the college of health sciences.
