The Minister for Health Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole, has said that the Federal Government is doing all it can to address the challenges as well as upgrade the National Primary Health Care services by improving its basic amenities.
The minister stated this in Abuja during a leadership conference held by the First Men in Nursing and Midwifery.
The Minister who was represented by the Director of Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health Dr. Inuwa Balami said that Nigeria was doing its best, adding that the rapid system initiative was an idea of the present government which would address the issues at the level of the primary health care.
“In the first year about 10,000 PHC was made functional and we got commodities among others to ensure that the primary health care becomes stronger,” he said.
He said that the Federal Government would continue to dialogue with every health professional in order to boost their morale, adding that steps would be taken to improve the working conditions of nurses.
The minister further called on more men to embrace the nursing and midwifery profession, saying there was need for a gender balance in the profession.
