The President of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria(APBN) and former NMA president , Dr Omede Idris,fnma was conferred with Honorary fellow of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(FNIPR) during the Institute conference at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on 9th October, 2017 for his contribution to the growth and visibility of APBN. He was also presented a certificate of Appreciation for being a Panelist on the theme of the conference: Trackable Identity and integrity in Business and National Reputation.

The APBN President appreciated the NIPR, her President, Dr Rotimi Oladele,FNIPR, its Council and entire members for the honour. The APBN President dedicated the award to the entire member bodies of APBN. The other honorary awardee during the one day event was Dr(Mrs) Nike Akande, OON, a former Minister of Industry of the Federal Republic, and current President Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Among those invested as new professional fellow of the Institute were Dr Tonnie Iredia, former DG NTA and Chief Dr Sam Eke.
The occasion was attended by eminent Nigerians in Public and Private sector.
The lead speaker on the theme of the conference, “trackable identity and integrity in Business and national reputation”, was the DG National Identity Management Commission(NIMC) who was represented. The APBN President opined that the theme is apt in the 21st Century, stating that appropriate use of digital communication, which has revolutionized the world, creates a better business environment through stemming down of crimes, illicit activities, and engender peace and security for conducive business environment. The work being done by NIMC and generation of unique identity NiN should be hasten and intensified. He also emphasized the need for the harmonization and integration of identification data that is being done by many agencies of government including the bank Identification number BVN, with sole aim of having for an individual a single interconnected trackable identity, using the biometric, fingerprint and other demographic features.
The APBN President equally enthused the importance of the DNA Paternity/ Legal DNA tests, as trackable identity in Medical/Health with business and legal components. DNA tests in Private or Public sector. Recently Lagos state government launched DNA testing complex. The tests could be carried out during Pregnancy, paternity test, siblingship, grandparentage, legal and immigration tests.He stated that in Nigeria, the legal backing for this is in National Health Act 2014.He calls for implementation of the Act.
Other panelists on the theme were Dr Tonnie Iredia and Associate Prof Abba Tahir, Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs of American University in Nigeria. The Speakers including the President of NIPR, and participants made valuable contribution to the theme.
The session was chaired by the GM Strategic Communication of NPA. There were other sessions in the conference.
