Group Urges Equity in UniBen Teaching Hospital CMD Appointment

Medical professionals at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital have called on the Federal Government to ensure fairness in the appointment of a chief medical director (CMD) for the hospital.

The position of CMD became vacant when Professor Michael Ibadin left after completing his two-term tenure.

The doctors under the aegis of Friends for Edo North Professors made the call for equity at the weekend, saying they supported the candidature of Prof. Sylvester Idogun, from Edo North to emerge because Edo South and Edo Central senatorial districts had produced the CMD in the last two decades.

“We call on the acting president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to appoint the best candidate from Edo North following the principles of fairness ,equity, justice and respect for federal character,” the group said.
