The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is an independent humanitarian medical NGO that was created in 2009 by professionals of humanitarian medicine. ALIMA’s mission is to provide medical care in emergency situations or medical catastrophes.
Position: Head of Community Health Educators
Location: Borno
Main Purpose
* Carry out direct activities with local population and organize, train and supervise community health educators’ activities according to ALIMA values and principles in order to promote health information and provide information about ALIMA activities to the population.
Job Description
Organize, train, and supervise the community health educators team in terms of:
* Planning and organizing their work (areas, days, absences, visits, holidays, etc.)
* Evaluating training needs and participating in trainings
* Visiting regularly communities that are under his/her responsibility
* Elaborating relevant material and establish adequate strategies for delivering the focused information to the community
* Ensure delivery of information to community regarding hygiene, diseases and prevention using proper tools and informing communities about ALIMA and services provided
* Monitor, collect and report to the medical team any information linked to living conditions and the health situation of the population (e.g. food security, vaccination status, nutritional situation, detect medical needs of the population, number of people arriving or leaving the community, births and deaths in the community, vaccination status of children, etc.)
* Maintain confidentiality regarding all information observed or registered
Report to line manager or medical team:
* If there are people with a medical problems
* Any problems that the community health workers might encounter during meetings with population in or outside of health facilities
* Any loss/damage of ALIMA material /equipment
Requirements
* Education: literacy essential
* Experience: essential 1 years’ working experience minimum; experience with NGO desirable
* Languages: local languages (Kanuri, Shuwa, etc.) essential; English language desirable
* Commitment, flexibility, professionalism, very good communication, service, stress management, teamwork, results
Working conditions
* Fixed term contract
