Job Responsibilities
How can you make a difference:
The Specialist will carry out the following activities related to the child survival and well being program within the overarching health systems strengthening component of the health and HIV portfolio in Nigeria:
Work closely with the FMOH, NPHCDA, NACA and partners at federal and State levels towards building a portfolio of implementation and delivery science learnings towards fast tracking results for women and children and informing policy and programming.
Provide technical support towards improving health systems for quality delivery of PHC programs with a focus on leveraging learnings through delivery science and data
Participate and provide technical expertise in related health systems strengthening forums and committees at federal level particularly health financing forums
Build a body of evidence documenting and linking investments to results outlining innovative financing modalities for improving child survival and well being
Participate and provide technical expertise for assessing progress in MNCAH results at federal and sub national levels understanding partnerships and investments
Support conceptualization, development and implementation of implementation and delivery science leveraging networks of academia, professional bodies, civil society and other institutions
Participate and actively support the think tank for MNCAH and explore possibilities of sub national think tanks for accelerating results for women and children including ‘practitioner’ think tanks
Participate as a member of the health systems strengthening groups and committees with a focus on health financing, implementation science and partnerships
Ensure linkages within the health and HIV portfolio though the implementation and delivery science lens and focusing on the primary health care delivery platform using data effectively
Working closely with the health and HIV team provide high quality technical expertise bringing in upto date global evidence and work on implementation science towards informing policy and programming for maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health.
Provide information to the health and HIV program through learnings from implementation and delivery science for informed decision making
Support development of policy and program briefs, documentation of the work done including linking with academia and professional organizations and partners
Support resource mobilization and working together with the team in bridging the learnings from delivery science to scale and sustainability
Other activities and support towards health systems strengthening activities as needed
Job Requirements
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:
Education: A University Degree in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology or Public Health related areas
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public health programs, planning and management and/or in relevant areas of maternal and child health. Relevant experience in health development and management in any UN system agency or organization is an asset.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
