The Saudi German Hospital Dubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto to develop a heart surgery centre.
A statement from the hospital yesterday by the Manager, International Patients, Dr George Davies said the project would kick off in September.
The statement said the MOU comprised a cooperation to develop infrastructure for a cardiac surgery facility at the hospital; that the Saudi German Hospital Dubai sends a team of doctors and technicians to the hospital to train the doctors and that doctors from Nigeria would be sent to Dubai for training by German professors. Speaking on the partnership, Dr Reem Osman, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi German Hospital Dubai said capacity building was one of the hospital’s major priorities for the Nigerian health care system.
Also Dr Ahmed, Chief Medical Director of the hospital said the partnership was a brilliant effort from both sides towards bringing the best to the country.
