Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday expressed concern over the spread of infectious diseases which, he said, had increased. The VP, represented by the Minister of Health, Prof Osagie Ehanire, stated this at the opening ceremony of the 55th Scientific Conference of Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria held in Abuja. At the event, a former Minister of Health Prof. Eyitayo Lambo, and the AMLSN, warned that the spread of Infectious diseases could be used as instrument of terror.

Osinbajo said the global health security agenda was in response to the risk being faced by humanity from the emergence and re-emergence of highly infectious diseases that pose great risk to public health globally. “With the world becoming a global village and increased human movement across countries, the risk of infectious disease has increased tremendously,” Osinbajo said.
