Jigawa State government has approved the release of N150 million as its counterpart funding to UNICEF for the procurement of routine drugs in the state.
The Head of Bauchi Field Office of UNICEF, Dr. Abdullahi Kaikai, who disclosed this during a mid-year review meeting for Jigawa and Plateau states, said the fund will be judiciously used for the procurement and distribution of drugs to designated centres across the state.Responding on behalf of Jigawa State government, the Director, Primary Health Care Agency, Dr. Sambo Shehu, re-affirmed government’s commitment to invest more in health, saying the present administration had done a lot in boosting health care service delivery. State Nutrition Officer, Malam Sa’idu Umar, said the agency had so far recorded tremendous success since the inception of the programme.
