Jigawa State government has set up an investigative committee to probe the involvement of Provosts of the School of Nursing, Birnin-Kudu, Hajiya Aisha Kazaure, and Director of Midwifery, Hajiya Halima Yunusa, in a fight.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abba Zakari, who disclosed this yesterday, said: “The ministry has already instituted an investigative committee that will furnish us with its findings and recommendations before we can take any action on the matter.

An eyewitness revealed that tension had been brewing between both parties, which was aggravated when the Provost demanded a refund of expenses she incurred, a situation that led to argument between them.

This was said to have led to the fight, which attracted lecturers and some students of the institution.

The Academic Staff union of the college, which reportedly summoned an emergency congress, was said to have condemned the incident, declaring it unacceptable.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting yesterday, the union advised the immediate suspension of the duo.
