JOHESU Set To Shutdown Health Sector in Rivers State

The Joint Health Sector Union of Rivers State has issued a 21 day ultimatum, to the state government to implement its nine point demand or face indefinite strike .
 
The ultimatum which was signed by over 200 members, revealed the following demands amongst others: 
 
- 100% implementation of the consolidated health salary structure for health workers
- the adjustment of the call duty and non clinical allowances for health workers
- the immediate implementation of a promise made in 2014 to purchase 200 cars for the union
- the employment of health workers to fill the shortage of personnel in government hospital
- the appointment of medical and health workers union members into the Rivers State Primary Health Care Board and 
- the regularizing of appointment of health workers'
 
The union warned that the health sector will be shutdown if government refuse to meet its demands by May 14, 2017.
