The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) Is an umbrella body mode up of five (5) Registered Trade Unions in the ilealth Sector namely; I. Medical and Health Workers' Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) National Associat on of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) I. Senior Staff Association of UniversitieS, Teaching Hospitals. Research Institutes, and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI). I. Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals NUAHP and iii. Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions (NASU). Also present were representatives of the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMoF), Office o' the Accountant General of the Federation OAGF), Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), and National Salar;es, Incomes and wages Commission (NSIWC).
The body on the 4th of December 2017 had written to the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Health concerning its defualting on agreements reached which had led to the body calling off its warning strike a few months ago. JOHESU also warned that due to the inability of the Government in implemeting all pending agreements immediately, there would be no other choice than to succumb to the pressure of its members who have insisted on resuming their strike action which was suspended on the 5th of October 2017.

You would recall that JOHESU demanded for amongst others:
1. Internship Training
2. The Upward Adjustment of CONHESS Salary Scale
3. Skipping of CONHESS 10
4. Promotion Arrears
5. Employment
6. Enhanced Entry Point for Radiographers and Medical Laboratory Scientist
7. Specialist Allowance
8. Board Appointments
9. Public Private Partnership (PPP)
10. Stagnation and Nomenclature also Referred to as "Same Seals
11. Federal Medical Centre Owerri (MC)
12. Review of Retirement Age from 60 - 65 as done for Tertiary Education Sector
13. The amended scheme of service for nurses and other professionals.
JOHESU also informed the Federal Government that unlike the last strike which was restricted to Federal Health Institutions, the looming strike will be across board to include both states and LGAs in Nigeria.
The memo ended by saying:
"For the records, Nigerians must hold Professor Isaac Adewole, the Honourable Minister of Health responsible for this unwholesome developement which is not expected to be in public interest".
