Sokoto State chapter of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) yesterday called off its industrial strike embarked upon in the state.
Chairman of the union in the state, Abubakar Shehu, disclosed this to newsmen in Sokoto yesterday. According to him, the decision to call off the strike followed an agreement reached between the state government and the union at a meeting recently, where they agreed to implement the demands of the union.
Shehu called on members of the union working in government health facilities to resume work without further delay.
The chairman, however, maintained that all members working under various Federal Government health institutions should continue with the strike until further directives.
Shehu appreciated the efforts by the state government, Ministry of Health and the Sultanate Council for their interventions and commended the Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Sokoto and the entire people of the state for their cooperation and understanding.
He also urged the union members to reciprocate the state government’s effort by dedicating themselves to duty by discharging their official responsibilities to the state and the nation at large.
