Today the 28th of May 2018 Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) held a meeting at its secretariate at Ayuba Wabba House Abuja. In attendance were all the state chairmen and secretaries from the 36 state of the federation, the various state chairmen and secretaries of all the unions , all the unit chairmen and secretaries of all the federal health institution that made up JOHESU.
PREAMBLE: All the members of JOHESU who have kept faith in this struggle were commended and reassured that the success is in view, and that is either now or we would remain slaves in Nigeria health sector even in phase of court injunction.
On The Purported Court Order;
The case of appeal by JOHESU in respect to the purported court injunction would be coming up on Wednesday 30th May, 2018. All members would be kept up to date
RESOLUTIONS;
- Other members of JOHESU in a voice vote reaffirmed their commitment to the struggles.
- The congress resolved that the strike would not be suspended despite the kangaroo court order.
- The congress also stated that if a demand of one's right in Nigeria can led our leaders being imprisoned then the Nigeria prisons should be ready to accommodate all the JOHESU members nation wide. This was in response to the invitation from the threat from the DSS where the executives were told that failure to suspend the strike as ordered by industrial court amounted to contempt of court which by implication would lead to imprisonment
- 50% was the johesu's demand for adjusting conhess, FG made initial offer of 20% but was rejected, additional offer of 5% making 25% also rejected, adjustment to start from conhess 09 also rejected, offer of the 25% reduced to 15% rejected and led to boycott of further negotiation, plea by minister of labour to suspend strike in order to lead the union to see the president also rejected
- The congress also denounced any and all members who would betray the struggle for any reason.
- Meeting wit d Senate president was inconclusive cos of an interruption by a call from d vice president.
- Meeting continues tomorrow despite d public holiday. Senate president ready to resolve the matter in 1 week.
In conclusion the JOHESU executives said: "Our hopes and struggles would remain strong and would stands renewed, but that however the meeting between our national leaders and the leaders of the Senate headed by Dr Bukorla Saraki end, the stand remained that not until all agreements reached were honoured, the strike wouldn't be called off.
