Kano State Commissioner for Health Dr. Kabiru Getso, yesterday said the Murtala Mohammed Hospital, Kano, takes delivery of not less than 2,000 babies every month.
He also said between 60 and 70 babies were being delivered by the day at the hospital. Getso spoke while he was inaugurating six new wards and two laboratories built by Dangote Foundation at the hospital.

The commissioner noted that these 2,000 monthly indices of new delivery were just the ones recorded at the hospital.
He said the intervention by Dangote Foundation in renovating and building the six wards and two laboratories was a great relief to the government that had become overburdened by the challenges of the maternal wards.
The units build and renovated include two post-maternal wards, one antenatal ward, eclimpsia room, theater and labour room, maternal blood bank and maternity laboratory. Fatima Aliko Dangote, daughter of the President of Dangote Group, said they provided support to the less privilege ones as their social and corporate intervention in Nigeria.
She said the foundation was created by their family to impact on the lives of the common man and intervenes in all sectors of human endeavour.
