Katsina Health Workers Want Salary Arrears Paid

Posted on: Tue 06-03-2018

Medical and health workers in Katsina State are being owed salary arrears of between eight and 16 months, their chairman Comrade Hussaini Hamisu has said.

Speaking with newsmen yesterday, Hamisu said about 8,450 members were affected across the 34 local government areas of the state.

He said the non-payment is causing a lot of inconveniences on the health workers.

He said Governor Aminu Masari promised to settle the outstanding arrears during the inaugural meeting of the verification committee in June 2016.

When contacted, the state Commissioner of Information Hamzo Borodo said if anyone has grudges, there is a proper channel for settling their grievances, adding that if there is an agreement with the government surely it will be honoured, “but as far as I’m concerned I’m not even aware they are being owed.”
