Kebbi State government, with the aid of World Health Organisation, has fixed March 10 to 19 for Yellow Fever Reactivation Campaign, following the report of 36 cases of Yellow Fever in eight local government areas of the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Umar Kambaza, who briefed newsmen, yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi, said the campaign has become necessary to curtail the situation. He said: “Yellow Fever is an acute haemorrhagic fever that have the potential to cause morbidity and mortality, not only in the state but, in the country. So far, 879 suspected cases have been reported from 21 states and in Kebbi, 36 cases were reported. This call for action.”
According to the commissioner, the affected local government include Bagudo, Fakai, Koko/Besse, Maiyama, Ngaski, Shanga, Suru and Yauri.
