Nigeria and Nigerians will recall that between 2011 and 2015, the kano state government under the leadership of our leader Senator Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, embarked on a massive manpower development drive through the award of foreign scholarship to over 2600 students of kano state extraction
About 700 of them were sponsored to study medical related courses in different countries so as to bridge the manpower gap in the health sector of the state. While about 100 of them, mainly in nursing line, have since completed their programs, a good number of them will be graduating next year
Regrettably, a number of the students especially those studying nursing in egypt and medicine in sudan have not received their monthly upkeep allowance and tuition fees in the last 30 months
It has come to our knowledge that as a result of the hardhsip they face, some of the students resort to begging and other antisocial behaviours to survice
As part of efforts to address the situtation, our leader senator Rabiu Kwankwaso visited Egypt recently to interact with the students with a view to containing the situation
To us, it has come to the point that the Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation has to take it upon itself to request and galvanize the support of well meaning nigerians, especially the good sons and daughters of kano state, to come to the rescue of these children of ours who are our future
Thus, we are organizing a fund raising for the affected students and we call on all well meaning nigerians to join and donate generously for these children
The fund raising comes up on january 18 2018 at the Afficient Event Centre, Magaji Rumfa, kano state by 2pm
