#LassaFever: NANNM-FHI Sector Chairman Sympathizes With The Family Of Late A&E Nurse Innocent

Posted on: Thu 18-01-2018

On behalf of the NAC, FHI-sector and with great pain and a heavy heart  we wish to express our sincere condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of our very dear colleagues who paid the supreme price of death recently to Lassa fever (VHF) across the country.

These incidences are not unconnected with the decadence in the administration of health at all levels in this country.
Chronic inadequate provision of essential and appropriate medical consumables and infrastructure must have contributed significantly to the occurrence of these cases.

These incidences once again brings to the front burner the dangers inherent in the course of the discharge of our professional responsibilities.

We call on ALL Nurses and Midwives to take extra caution in the course of treating this highly infectious diseases and all units MUST insist that appropriate PPE and other medical consumables are provided by the various management.

We can no longer continue to sacrifice the life of our members to the gross incompetence of hospital administrators. The Almighty will continue to console the families of the bereaved and the nursing community at large.

GOD BLESS NURSES AND NURSING

Signed
Wale Olatunde
National Chairman, NANNM-FHI Sector
