We are currently in need of:
Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker
Location: Abuja
Job Description:
A Mental Health Support Worker offers services for the purpose of improving patients mental health; the post holder is expected to be readily available to patients, assist them in physical care, engage in observation and escorting duties, crisis support and intervention.
The Post Holder is to build relationships with patients by engaging in minor activities like reading together, playing games together, watching TV together, and engaging patients in motivational talks so as to improve the quality of support provided.
Assisting Nursing staff with clinical and non-clinical tasks.
Interact therapeutically with patients
Go out with patients on parole when applicable
Ensure the patient’s environment is safe and neat: free from harmful objects; clothes and foot wears of patients should be neatly arranged; patient’s bed should be dressed properly; patient’s room should be tidy at all times.
Ensure that electrical appliances e.g. bulbs, Air conditions and other appliances are switched off when not in use.
Monitor and observe patient closely and report behavioural changes.
. Physical Care: intervene in areas of physical need to ensure that patients have good levels of personal hygiene, nutrition, sleep et cetera.
. Assist in patient’s body, oral, nail and hair cares.
. If the need be, bathe patients, lay their beds
. Managing potentially violent and confrontational situations with patients
Required Qualification and Experience:Mental Health Support Workers are needed in 2 categories
. Category 1: Minimum of Diploma in a related field
. Category 2: Minimum of a Degree in a related field
. Experience in similar capacity is an added advantage
. Ability to read and write fluently
. Ability to work under pressure
