Minister Of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole, @Fmohnigeria Call Out Punch Newspaper On News Report

Posted on: Wed 17-05-2017

Nigeria's Minister of Health Professor Isaac Adewole using his personal handle (@IsaacFAdewole) this evening rebuked Punch Newspaper on the news they had published this morning.

This comes after the Federal Ministry Of Healths twitter handle had also called out Punch Newspaper on its reporting with the following tweet:
"ALERT: Terribly misleading reporting by Punch Newspaper. The N1bn worth of expired HIV drugs happened under a previous administration."
Punch Newspaper had today the 17th of May 2017 reported with the headline that "N1bn HIV drugs expired in storage, says FG".

In a series of tweets, Prof. Isaac Adewole said:
"Disappointed by the third rate reporting by a respected newspaper. Fake health news does more damage than can be imagined."

The Minister also commented on refund of looted monies:
"We know that this admin is gradually regaining trust of donors. This year we will refund GAVI and Global Fund monies looted by a previous admin"

His final tweet was a stinging rebuke to health reporters in the country:
"Health reporters shoud be more responsible and circumspect. Too bad to put lives at risk for clicks. God bless Nigeria".

As at the time of writing this Punch Newspaper has not replied yet.
