Minister of State for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire has enjoined the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to continue to come up with programmes that would boost the quality of laboratory services in the country.
He gave the advice yesterday during the inauguration of a nine man National External Quality Assurance (EQA) advisory committee of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, to improve the quality of medical laboratories in the country.
He said the Federal Ministry of Health would continue to support initiatives that contribute to the health sector.
Acting Registrar of MLSCN, Sir Tosan Erhabor said the functions of the committee includes to provide guidance for the effective management of External Quality Assurance programme in Nigeria, to provide institutional support and advisory services to MLSCN , to analyze and advise government on the performance of medical laboratories, among others.
The chairperson of the committee, Prof Alashile Abinikun promised that the members would put in their best in discharging their duties.
