The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has entered into a partnership with Raffles Oil Enterprise under its Power Oil Healthy Heart Mission project to combat heart-related diseases among women in Abuja.
Under the partnership, the two bodies will work together for three years providing opportunities for women across different local government areas in Abuja to check their blood pressure, pulse/visceral fat level, Body mass index and other free medical services with the aim of reducing heart-related diseases among them.
The Director, Women and Gender Affairs, in the ministry, Mrs. Annetu-Anne Aliu, who inaugurated the free medical health check in Abuja on Thursday, said, “I am particularly pleased with the objectives of this inauguration which will be addressing some challenges faced by women, the aged and other vulnerable groups as regards various heart-related diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, body mass index and other heart-related challenges.”
Commenting on the development, the Public Relations Manager, Power Oil, Mrs. Omotayo Azeez-Abiodun, said, “The Power Oil health outreach programme has been on for over three years in various states of the nation, and we are delighted to eventually get the attention and support of this ministry. It clearly shows we are moving on the right track.”
She stated that the organisation was confident that the partnership would go a long way to benefit and bring about improved health and wellbeing of more Nigerians.
