Maternal and New Born Child Health programme has procured and supplied drugs and other consumable items worth N310 million for Jigawa State for onward distribution to 162 health facilities under the programme.
The state coordinator of the programme, Dr Shuaib Hanzat, revealed this in an interview with Leadership weekend in his office. He said the drugs and consumable purchased with the 2017 grant of the programme which is funded by Department For International Development (DIFID).
The coordinator noted that, the drugs and consumables will be given to children under five and pregnant women in the state. According to him over 80 percent of the procured items are already deliver to three different stores in Hadejia, Gumel and birninkudu of the state.
He noted that, they are only waiting for the state government to renovate another store for the delivery of the remaining drugs. “After receiving the remaining delivery we will hand over the items to the state government for flagging up the distribution.
The programme is centered at supporting and promoting health care service delivery particularly to children and women to mitigate the menace of high rate of maternal and child death,” said the coordinator.
