Following the fraud uncovered at the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Executive Chairman of the agency, Dr. Mohammed Usman Adis, has set up an audit team to carry out a holistic audit of the agency with a view to unraveling how the agency’s funds were misappropriated.
Adis told newsmen in an interview in his office in Lafia at the weekend that available records had shown that huge sums of money was misappropriated during his predecessor’s tenure.
He said upon discovering the scam on assumption of duty, he constituted an audit panel to carry out a holistic audit of the agency to determine how the agencies’ funds were misappropriated. The executive chairman said those found wanting would be made to face the full weight of the law after the audit report. Adis said the agency was faced with some challenges such as absenteeism, improper dressing, inadequate personnel and lack of supervisor, among others.
He said the agency was set to check absenteeism, improper dressing and poor supervision, to achieve optimal performance in service delivery. The executive chairman, who expressed satisfaction over the state of facilities in some primary healthcare centres in the state, observed that quality healthcare begins at the elementary level.
