National Association of Resident Doctors, NEC Update from Recently Concluded Meeting

NARD had her Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday 27/03/18 in National Trauma Auditorium, National Hospital Abuja.
 
Reason for the meeting was to discuss and take decision to tackle the unjust sack of some members from residency training program in JUTH and other related centres ( Umuahia, Benin & Ilorin)
 
RESOLUTIONS
The NEC members after a robust discussion resolved as follows
1. That a 30-day ultimatum be issued to Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal ministry of health starting from Monday 2/04/18 to mandate all the CMDs / MDs of Teaching hospitals and Federal medical centers to respect and implement the 2014 circular on tenure of Residency Training Program.
 
2. Immediate and unconditional reinstatement of unjustly sacked residents in JUTH and other related centres.
 
3. Immediate release of all withheld ARD JUTH monthly capitations.
 
4. That the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria should, as a matter of urgency, sign into law the Residency Training Program Bill (RTPB) that is waiting for his accent.
 
5. That all CMDs/MDs should suspend further sack of resident doctor until the approval and signing into law the  RTPB by Mr President 
 
Sequel to the above resolutions, every centre was mandated to embark on Media sensitisation with respect to the above ultimatum to strengthen it and give it adequate publicity which it deserves.
 
The ultimatum is to be reviewed during NMA Abuja  Annual Delegate Meeting (ADM)  by first week of May.
