NAUTH Deploys 50 Doctors For Free Medical Mission In Anambra Community

Members of Umunya community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State recently counted their blessings in the area of health care delivery.
 
It was the day the Department of Family Medicine of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, deployed over 50 medical personnel, including consultants, to its Comprehensive Health Centre, Umunya, all for the care of the rural dwellers in commemoration of this year’s World Family Doctor Day.
 
Conservatively, over 2,000 members of the community, both old and young with various ailments gathered at the health facility even before sunrise to receive the attention of the medical experts, who arrived as early as 7:30 am from Nnewi to join their counterparts working at the health centre already waiting for them.

Throwing light on the mission of the medical doctors, Head of Department (HOD), Family Medicine, NAUTH, Professor Godswill Amechi Nnaji, said they deployed that huge number of medical personnel in collaboration with Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON) as part of social responsibility of the health institution and the medical practitioners.
 
He said all the community members were targeted, from cradle to grave without age limitation.
 
Nnaji explained the area of service to included free consultation; free investigation and free treatment for all so long as drugs for investigated ailments were there.
