The Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has expressed delight at the plan by a pharmaceutical company, Enbay Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, to site a plant in the state.
The governor said the move would complement his administration’s effort to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
A statement on Sunday quoted Dickson as saying this when the Managing Director of Enbay Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, Mr. Eneye Oweifie, and his team paid a courtesy visit to him at the Government House in Yenagoa.
The visitors were received by the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah (retd.), on behalf of Dickson. He pledged government’s support for the pharmaceutical plant, which Enbay was building in partnership with some foreign investors.
Also speaking, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Kemela Okara, noted that the pharmaceutical plant would be sited at the Industrial Park, Gbarantoru, Bayelsa State.
Earlier, Enbay’s MD, Oweifie, had said the project was at the advanced stage and finishing touches were being put on its.
“We are partnering other pharmaceutical companies from the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria. We hope that this would engender massive employment opportunities for about two thousand youths in the state,” Oweifie said.
