RE: CURRENT STRIKE BY JOINT HEALTH SECTOR UNION (JOHESU)

All Physiotherapists in Nigeria and the Diaspora are by this notice directed to disregard any notice of vacancy or advertisement for employment of physiotherapists into any of the Government health facilities (at the federal, state, local government levels and their subsidiaries) while the on-going industrial action by the JOHESU lasts.

No physiotherapist should apply for, attend an interview or take up employment as physiotherapist in any government health facility until the resolution of the industrial crises between JOHESU and the Federal Government of Nigeria and/or suspension/calling off the on-going industrial strike action.

We wish to inform our esteem physiotherapists that the NSP as a member of NUAHP is in full support of and participating fully in the on-going industrial strike action which commenced since 17th April 2018 by JOHESU.

All physiotherapists are again informed that JOHESU is fighting a just course, and that the present industrial strike action is aimed at delivering JOHESU affiliates from industrial slavery. The directive by the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole (Ref No DHS/166/T2/220 dated 28th May 2018) to All Chairmen Boards of Management to sack all JOHESU members is illegal.

This is another ploy by the ministry of health to disregard and prevent JOHESU members from achieving the objectives of this current industrial action after its policy of “No work no pay” did not succeed. The NSP expect the FGN to engage the JOHESU members in dialogue until an amicable solution is attained.

Taking up employment of this nature at this period by any physiotherapist in Nigeria or Diaspora is tantamount to sabotage of the on-going efforts of JOHESU for industrial liberation of health professionals, killing the soul of physiotherapy profession in Nigeria and mortgaging the present and future of our dear profession.

All physiotherapists in Nigeria and the Diaspora are directed to scale up their support in all ways for JOHESU till justice and equity are done in the matter at hand.

Counting on your usual strict compliance to this directive.

Aluta Continua.

Signed
Dr Odusanya Oyinlola Felix, PT M.Sc., MNSP National General Secretary
