NMA Ends Rift, Swears In New State Officers In Lagos

Few weeks after the dismal and embarrassing parallel elections by members of the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, a new State officers Committee have emerged following the intervention of the National body of the Association. 
 
The new officers are Dr. Odusote Olumuyiwa, as chairman, 1st Vice chairman, Dr Adebayo Samuel Kayode ,  2nd Vice chairman, Secretary, Dr. Luro Sunday Adesegun, Deputy Secretary, Dr. Adeboghun Abosede, Treasurer, Dr. Agbara Joy Onyinyechi, Publicity Secretary, Dr Chinedum Eluogu, Financial Secretary – Dr. Olibamoyo Olushola, Social Secretary,  Dr. Oladipo Fadekemi and internal Auditor,  Dr Obani  Hameed  Kayode. 
 
The National President of the NMA, Prof. Mike Ogirinma who authenticated the new committee in a telephone chat with Vanguard said they have resolved the rift through NMA’s internal mechanism on crisis as enshrined in their constitution. 
 
“We have new state officers in Lagos State and we expect all parties to obey and respect them. 
 
Addressing a press conference in Lagos, the new Chairman of the Association, Dr. Olumuyiwa Odusote assured all stakeholders and Lagosians that the new State Officers Committee would work with all organs of the association to ensure an effective healthcare delivery system in the State. 
 
He pledged to carry all members of the association along as well as ensure that their duties are discharged in an environment free from encumbrances. 
 
Speaking, the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Chinedum Eluogu who also dismissed alleged  court  order, explained that section (8a) of NMA constitution said no member or branch or group shall institute any action in any law court on any issue that is purely an association matter without allowing the association to first adjudicate in the matter. 
 
or without exhausting all the Constitutional provisions in seeking redress within the association.”
