Nurses at Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Take Emergency Delivery of Baby by the Road Side

The Nurses of Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Uselu, Benin City, were going about their normal duties when a woman (passerby) ran into the Out Patient Department appealing to the CNO i/c of the unit for assistance for a woman who was in labour beside the hospital fence towards the Medical Stores road Junction. 
 
Immediately, some nursing personnel were urgently mobilized to the spot, and ensured privacy as much as possible and thereafter the woman was delievered of a bouncing baby boy weighing about 3kg. The Umblical cord was cleansed, ligated and cut. A passerby provided the wrapper in which the baby was wrapped by the Nurses. 
 
 
Mother and baby were wheeled to the NHIS Clinic for further nursing care. The husband was contcted on phone by the nursing personnel who took the delivery. He later came and was taken to the NHIS clinic to see his wife and baby. Both mother and baby were in good condition as at the time of this report.
