Nurses in Ondo State south west Nigeria are to embark on an indefinite strike from 12 midnight today following unpaid 6 months salaries. This is coming 5 days after the nurses wrote the governor of the state demanding for their wages a letter which was ignored by the governor according to a source privy to the matter.
The directive to embark on an indefinite strike was contained in a message sent to all units by the state chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives Ondo State Council. Below is the message : "Withdrawal of nursing services from all health facilities in ONDO STATE will commence on Tue 12 midnight. All nurses are to comply"
Medical doctors in the state earlier this week declared an indefinite strike over unpaid 6 months salaries as many of the health workers in the state are finding it difficult to feed and transport themselves to work.
