PCN Resumes Fight Against Indiscriminate Drugs Sales In Kaduna

Posted on: Tue 11-10-2016

The Kaduna State chapter of Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has declared its intention to resume fight against  indiscriminate sale of drugs in the state after 12 years of legal tussle between PCN and the Patent Medicine Stores (PMS).

According to the Zonal Officer, North-West zone of PCN, Pharmacist Abubakar J. Dattijo, the regulation of pharmaceutical premises, especially the PMS through the Kaduna State Patent and Proprietary Medicines Vendors License (PPMVL) committee, which is an organ of PCN, has suffered several setbacks since the introduction of the guidelines for the issuance of PPMV license in 2003 by the Federal Ministry of Health.

This he said was as a result of a lingering court case between the National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED) and the PCN since 2004, when the NAPPMED challenged the competency of PCN to regulate its activities in court.
