The Plateau State Government has expressed its readiness to partner with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to establish a state health insurance agency to promote healthcare services.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bala K. Kuden, disclosed this in a speech during a stakeholders interactive forum for enrolees of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), as well as health management organisations (HMOs) and health care facilities (HCFs) organized by the NHIS at Good life Restaurant/Guest Inn in Jos yesterday. Dr. Kuden said although the state was facing financial challenges, the plan to establish the health insurance agency had been captured in the 2016 budget, and the state government was committed to improving healthcare services of its citizens.
