Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF) is an international NGO working in Nigeria from last 20 years primarily in the areas of Mission for Primary Healthcare, Mission for Vision and Mission for Water.

Through the Mission for Vision program, TCF has conducted more than 110,000 free eye surgeries in the 5 hospitals across Nigeria. TCF currently performs more than 5000 eye surgeries in its centres in Kebbi and Calabar. The centres in Yola, Owerri, and Katsina are now being managed by Nigerian staff trained by TCF.

We are setting up a Super Specialty Eye Hospital in Abuja and are currently seeking qualified Post Basic Ophthalmic Nurses.

Position: Ophthalmic Nurse

Job Purpose:

a.     To Provide Superior Quality of Professional, Holistic, and Humanistic Nursing Care to Patients

b.    Arranging the operation theatre according to the different Surgeries, arranging the instruments according to the Surgeries, preparing the patients who come for eye surgery and helping the doctor in the Operation Theatre.

Job Description: Primary job description is as follows:

a.      Patients are dealt with promptly and courteously

b.      Patients are examined accurately

c.      Patients are escorted to the respective areas

d.      Patients waiting time is kept to a minimum

e.      Patients are kept informed about the tests being carried out

f.       Patients are not anxious about the examinations

g.      Sterilizing the Operation theatre and keeping it ready for the surgery.

h.      Sterilizing the tools and instruments in the theatre, arranging the instruments after checking and taking care of the instruments.

i.       Preparing the patients for eye surgery according to the patient’s case sheet (Retina, Glaucoma, Cornea, Paediatric, Orbit)

j.       General Duties

Qualifications:

a.       Must be Registered Ophthalmic Nurse

b.      Candidates appearing for final examination may also apply

c.       Must be fluent in English and Hausa

d.      Computer literate candidates are preferable
