Preventing Fraud in Pharma Companies Not Rocket Science, Says Expert

Posted on: Thu 02-11-2017

Following reports on how some pharmaceutical companies had been defrauded by some unscrupulous sales representatives, a seasoned sales and marketing consultant has attributed the malaise to noticeable lapses within the sector.

Speaking at the prelaunch of his latest bestseller titled “25 Unbreakable Laws” held on October 31, 2017 at Pharmanews head office in Lagos, George O. Emetuche, managing director of Selling Champion Consulting explained that everything boils down to apathy to training of staff and the sales team, noticeable in today’s organisations, not just pharma companies.

“I train a lot of pharmaceuticals companies in communication and mobilization. Consequently, I encourage them to put in tight-water control mechanism into the system that demonstrate what sales representatives and managers are expected to do at a given time.

“That way, you get to know when something is fishy or things start going wrong. Seriously, I get puzzled when I hear how salesmen make away with millions of naira. The truth is that this thing does not happen overnight. It builds up over time.

“One thing you should know is: Salesmen and con men are the same, except for integrity. For instance, what usually comes to your mind when you receive phoney business calls? The intention is clear. Sell an idea, product or service with the hope that your prospects will buy,” he said.

According to public speaker, the problem will persist if members of the sales team are not recruited and trained through the proper channel.

“You need training to prepare the mind of a salesman. For instance, I have a training model I call the man that makes the sales. Every company needs to make the man. This is because if you don’t make the man that makes the sale, he will not make the sale.

“Therefore you need to make the man discover himself, discover his real purpose in the organization, his calling or whether he is just there to add to the number in the crowd. I call it the science of sense discovery because once he discovers himself, he will come out with a new personality that craves for him to stand out of the crowd,” he emphasized.

George Emetuche, popularly known as Selling Champion, is a Brian Tracy- endorsed speaker and training consultant. Aside training sales and marketing representatives especially in pharmaceutical companies, he has authored five books and written over 2,000 articles by the grace of God. His latest bestseller – “25 Unbreakable Laws’ is due to be launched in Lagos on October 11, 2017.
