Portharcourt Rivers State: As part of its corporate social responsibility, Medicalworld Nigeria has responded to a request by Mst Emmanuel Nwankwo the school Head boy at Cita International Portharcourt for a firstaid training for his school.
Mr Emmanuel had in a letter to the training firm appealed that first aid knowledge was vital, noting that the training would help equip students with the skills, ability and confidence to help and carry out basic first aid in an emergency
Speaking at the event which held yesterday 28th February 2018, Mr Ijeoma Anthony noted that Medicalworld was committed to making First-aid and CPR skills an integral part of every child's education especially at the formative ages.
According to him, the statistics and survival rates on cardiac arrests and emergencies in Nigeria are alarming hence the need to increase first aid skills among Nigerians especially in CPR which can double the chances of survival from out of hospital cardiac arrests.
Mr Anthony the lead instructor thanked the head boy for the invitation and educated the children on the need for everyone to know and be able to respond to a first aid emergency
The children were taught first aid basics and further engaged in practical sessions of managing medical emergencies, environmental emergencies and injury emergencies.
At the end of the training session, a quiz was held and lucky students went home with medical-doctor styled 6Gb USB flash drives
