The Dean of Basic Medicine, Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State, Professor Robert Nneli and seven others yesterday lost their lives in multiple accidents along the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway.
Nneli who died on the spot with his driver, was travelling to his hometown in Anambra State when the incident occurred.
He was travelling with his Toyota camry alongside his son who survived the accident which occurred at about 9pm when the vehicle collided with an on-coming truck.
The second incident involved a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) which rammed into the truck that involved the Professor Nneli killing six persons.
Speaking to Journalists, the Ebonyi State Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Commander, Mrs. Stella Uchebu, attributed the causes of the accidents to wrong overtaking and overspeeding.
