PS Lauds NCDC Response Towards Epidemic Outbreak

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Mr.Clement Uwaifo, has lauded the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for it proactive responses towards tackling epidemic outbreak in Nigeria. 

The Permanent Secretary stated this during a facility visit to the NCDC laboratory site in Abuja.

Mr. Uwaifo, commended the Chief Executive officer, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu and the entire Staff of the NCDC for achievements recorded at the Agency in terms of its responses to epidemic outbreak, facility upgrading, manpower training and health care delivery in the Country.  

He further noted that despite paucity of funds, the Management of NCDC had raised the bar because they had done much with little resources available. 

Mr. Uwaifo further advised that there would be need to provide buses for the staff to ease the challenge of transportation.

Earlier, while welcoming the Permanent Secretary and his entourage, Dr. Ihekweazu thanked the Permanent Secretary for making out time to visit the facility.

He informed that the achievement recorded at the Centre was a collective effort and pledged that the Centre would intensify effort towards reducing and monitoring outbreaks such as the current Monkey Pox and other diseases.
