Nurses who are trained in foreign countries and wish to be registered as a Nurses licenced to practice with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, please find below steps you need to take. :
It is mandatory that Graduates of Foreign Nursing Institutions register with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria to obtain a Licence to Practice in Nigeria
There are Two (2) types of registration for foreign trained nurses:
- Those That Registered In Their Country Of Training
- Those That Did Not Register In Their Country Of Training
This process may take minimum of six (6) months and maximum of eighteen (18) months The registration and licensing process can be facilitated by taking the following steps:
1. Pay a non-refundable examination fee of N45,500 into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria through REMITA in any bank
2. Compleate registration/licencing certificate application forms with six (6) coloured passport photographs on a white background
3. Complete verification of registration/licencing certificate forms and send to Foreign Nursing Registration Board Authority who will in turn send it directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
4. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the verification forms are completed and returned in good time to the council
5. Alos request Foreing Nursing Registration Board Authority to send a letter of good standing directly to the nursing and midwifery council of nigeria
6. Request foreing institutions to send official Academic Transcript of all nursing cources directly to the NMCN
7. It is the applicants responsibility to arrange and pay all necessary transcript fees as may be required by the foreing university college
8. Request the federal ministry and education in Nigeria to authenticate the institutions which you attended and certificates
9. Sit a pre-registration NMCN examinaton
10. Undergo a minimum of 3 months orientation programe in an approved institution
11. Payment of current registratio licensing fee if end of orientation report is satisfactory
12. Registration and issuance of notification of registration licence
13. Applicants must posses a minimum of five (5) credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings in WACE/SSCE or GCE or NECO

The objective of the orientation programme is to get applicants equiped with nursingworldnigeria practices in Nigeria. The duration of the orientation for the applicant will be determined by his/her performance in the written exams and interview

Full training (3 years)
- On Countries That Run Nursing Programmes Like Sudan, Republic Of Niger, Republic Of Benin and Other Francophone Countries
Applicants must posses a minimum of five (5) credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings in WACE/SSCE or GCE or NECO
Applicants who are citizens of Republic of Benin, Niger and other francophone countries should provide clearance from Immigration, Nigerian Police and Directorate of State Security Services
Applicants are to present evidence of residence permit for the period of study in the country of training
Letter of identification from the school indicating the duration of training
Evidence of stamped international passport for exit and entry into the country of training
The programme must not be online or part time
Applicants who are citizens of francophone countries must present evidence of english language proficiency
Applicants must obtain Indexing Number from the council before the commencement of the programme
Applicants must undergo 18months training in an approved school of Nursing in Nigeria and must sit for the councils professional examination.
Payment of current registration and licensing fee if applicant is successful in the councils professional examination
