Return To Work, CMD Begs Striking UBTH Resident Doctors

Posted on: Fri 14-10-2016

Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, Prof. Michael Ibadin, has appealed to striking members of the Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, UBTH branch, to shelve their two months old strike and save the lives of patients, who are now at the receiving end as a result of the strike.

He also urged them to uphold the sanctity of their oath as medical professionals to save lives at all times.

Prof. Ibadin, who was reacting to the two months old strike embarked upon by the resident doctors of the hospital, however, described the action as ominous, saying, “Some desperate resident doctors in the hospital are working relentlessly to thwart and undermine the efforts of management in providing quality and sustainable healthcare service delivery for patients.”

He frowned at the frequency at which the resident doctors embark on strikes even when management was working around the clock to ensure that their demands were met.
