The Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals (JOHESU) has condemned alleged manhandling of its chairman of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital branch, Fidelis Ogobor by the Chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Wilson Ovienria on Friday.

JOHESU in a statement yesterday by its National Chairman, Comrade Biobelemoye Joy Josiah alleged that the attack occurred, when Ogobor was leading a monitoring team to check compliance of workers to the strike called by the national body of the union.

The statement reads in part: “We express our displeasure with Ovienria, who stooped so low to have slapped Ogobor and destroyed the mobile handset belonging to another of our member, Mr Tune.”

He called on the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole to urgently call doctors to be mindful of provoking “Our members who have remained calm since we called for strike and will remain so.”

He vowed that no amount of provocation will intimidate JOHESU members from continuing its fight against “Discrimination, Corruption, Under - Funding etc, until our demands are met.”
