Succession crisis is currently rocking the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, as the current Director of Administration, Prof. Archibong Archibong, is billed to retire in September this year.
In the wake of the crisis, a group, Concerned Staff of the UCTH, CSOUCTH, had accused Archibong of highhandedness and embarking on a witch-hunt of his subordinate. But he has denied the accusations.
The group alleged in a statement in Calabar on Monday that Archibong did not want the most senior director in his directorate to succeed him and he subsequently transferred the Director of Human Resources, Ededem Eyoma, adding that what he did was in bad faith.
According to the group, the DA should proceed on terminal leave since he was retiring on September 10, 2019 to avoid chaos, enmity among members of staff and confusion in the system.
The release partly read, “Prof. Archibong wants to punish the director of human resources because he was more effective and efficient in terms of quality service delivery.
When contacted, Archibong denied all allegations, claiming they were baseless and unfounded.
Archibong said, “Whatever they are saying is baseless and unfounded because I have not done anything contrary to the law. I have no intention of staying a day longer as the director of administration. I cannot condescend so low to staying a day longer or coming back to the system.”
