UCH (@uchibadan_) Management Replies Trending Social Media Post On Death Of Oluwaseun Ezekiel

Posted on: Thu 22-03-2018

Our attention has been drawn to the trending death of one of our patients, Oluwaseun Ezekiel Female, 24years who was referred to our Facility from a hospital in Ikorodu after being managed unsuccessfully for FOUR YEARS.

The writer of the trending story was unduly emotional, sensational, misinformed and misguided. He only tried to weep up sentiments.

The patient had been ill since 2014 with poor compliance to medications and presented with Cardiogenic shock without oxygen from the referral hospital.
Resuscitation was commenced within five minutes of arrival without waiting for any payment as this is our routine practice.

Late Oluwaseun was given the best medical service that she required when she was brought in. We won't like to go into details of her condition when she was brought in because of the Doctor- Patient unwritten confidential relationship.

That a staff was eating so early into a new day had nothing to do with the service rendered to Seun because treatment already was ongoing before payment was made.

The emergency room doctors- Registrars, Senior Registrars and the TWO Consultants (including) a Senior Cardiologist who saw the patient were not known to the writer because he couldn't distinguish one from the other. Besides, the conclusion that the patient would only benefit from Cardiopulmonary Transplant was also unknown to the writer and any attempt to cast aspersions on the excellent clinical practices at the University College Hospital, Ibadan by a relation who is not fully informed is rather unfortunate.

It would interest the Public to note that UCH has the best Cardiologist and Cath Lab in the country as at today. Any wonder why Seun was referred to us for proper and excellent care.

It's so unfortunate that Seun passed on but it should be noted that her death has nothing to do with the excellent medical service given to her within the short spate of time she spent alive in our Hospital.

Thanks.

About the trending story
You would recall that in a trending social media post the family of Oluwaseun Ezekiel, was thrown into mourning after the alleged negligence of doctors, nurses and attendants in University College Hospital, Ibadan led to her untimely death.

The grieving relative had in his post labelled UCH a death trap after his unpleasant experience with them and their careless attitude in handling a case of Cardiac failure.

In his lengthy Facebook post, Enoch had narrated his families ordeal in the hands of “egomaniacal doctors with God complexes, nurses like witches, patients attendants and morticians” working in UCH. He had ended his post with the following words:

“Don’t wait to experience this before you know about some doctors playing God. Please share until someone in authority notices and this menace is fixed #fixuch #fixourhospitals #ripseun.”
